You may think you have seen this bus before (on page 64) but you haven’t! The livery is almost identical but now the radiator grill and headlamp surrounds are painted mauve – and it is a different vehicle. This is RML 2560 in Oxford Street on 20 April 1974 and a much travelled Routemaster at that. Entering service at Willesden in October 1966, it visited Montreal in Canada in March 1967 for Expo67 in company with RML 2548 where it became the Red Rose Tea Bus and had its side emblazoned with the slogan ‘best bloomin’ tea of the lot’. Not long after its return from Canada, RML 2560 was abroad again, this time to Esbjerg in Denmark, on a goodwill visit in April 1968. Back in Britain, the bus spent twelve months in Ladbrokes livery from October 1973 to October 1974 and remained in London service until sold in March 2004. The bus then crossed water yet again, but only as far as Northern Ireland, for it now travels around the Belfast area working for Allen’s Tours. (Bob Greenaway/Online Transport Archive)
